ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Buncombe County Tax Collections staff are visiting six libraries through November so property owners in Asheville, N.C., and nearby towns can get help with bills, payments and deadlines before interest begins.

With property owners facing a Jan. 5, 2027, deadline to pay tax bills without interest, county tax employees can help residents understand their bills, pay online, set up payment arrangements and keep track of important deadlines. They can also point residents toward questions about property values, reappraisal and tax relief programs.

Help desks began Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Black Mountain Library, 105 N. Dougherty St., Black Mountain, from 2-4 p.m. through Oct. 15. Fairview Library is scheduled Oct. 20-22, Leicester Library Oct. 27-28, East Asheville Library Nov. 3-5, Enka-Candler Library Nov. 10 and 12, and Skyland/South Buncombe Library Nov. 17-19.

Property taxes were due Sept. 1, but residents have until Jan. 5, 2027, to pay without interest. Residents can stop by during the scheduled hours to speak with a member of the county Tax Collections team.

Buncombe County is governed by a seven-member Board of Commissioners chaired by Amanda Edwards, and county government is among Asheville major employers. The library tour puts tax help in neighborhood branches rather than only at downtown offices.

East Asheville and Skyland sessions run mid-morning, while earlier Black Mountain, Fairview and Leicester stops are afternoon windows, giving different work schedules a chance to ask about bills before the January interest date.
