ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Connor Dubsky poured in 21 points and UNC Asheville blew past Erskine 101-74 on Wednesday night at Kimmel Arena, evening the Bulldogs record at 1-1 to open the season.

Dubsky hit 6 of 11 tries from beyond the arc and went a perfect 3 for 3 at the line. Daniel Thomas added 17 points and nine rebounds, and Khayri Dunn finished with 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including three makes from deep.

Daniel Enowachou led Erskine with 18 points. Keyaron Hendricks chipped in 15 points, six assists and two steals, and Braxton Dowdle scored 14 for the Flying Fleet.

The win sets up a familiar mountain matchup. Western Carolina visits Kimmel Arena on Saturday as the programs renew a series that dates to UNC Asheville early Division I years in the mid-1980s. Athletics materials note the Catamounts trip lands during a season marking 40 years of Bulldog Division I basketball, with the all-time ledger filled with overtime finishes and one-possession games across Cullowhee and Asheville.

Erskine heads to The Citadel on Friday. For Asheville, the Erskine night was a chance to settle after the season opener and stack scoring depth before the Catamounts arrive. Dubsky three-point volume, Thomas work on the glass, and Dunn secondary scoring gave the home side a 27-point cushion by the final horn.

Bulldog coaches have framed the Western Carolina date as more than a nonconference filler, pointing to decades of regional rivalry that produced double-overtime thrillers in the late 1980s and several one-point decisions in the last decade. Fans packing Kimmel on Saturday will see that history resume with both programs still early in their 2026-27 schedules.

Box-score tallies from Wednesday put Asheville comfortably above 100 points for the first time this season. The Bulldogs next tip against Western Carolina at home Saturday, looking to carry the Erskine momentum into the mountain series renewal.
