Fletcher, North Carolina – Belvie Lynn (Buie) Heatherly, aged 69, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Mission Hospital. She was a longtime resident of Fletcher and is deeply mourned by her family and friends.
Belvie Heatherly was born in Asheville, North Carolina, and was known for her strong family ties. She was the wife of the late Clifton Elmer Woodrow Heatherly, with whom she shared many cherished memories. Belvie is survived by her son, Matthew Garren, and his wife, Jennifer, as well as her daughter, Angela Boney, and her husband, David. In addition, she is survived by four stepchildren: Tina Perino and her husband, Greg; Clifton “Woody” Heatherly and his wife, Tonya; Teresa McGinty and her husband, Jim; and Christy McKinney and her husband, Bryan.
Belvie’s family also includes her brother, Roy Buie, and his wife, Cheryl, along with her sister, Velvie Patterson, and her husband, Terry. In addition to her immediate family, she leaves behind several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will remember her fondly. A beloved pet, her dog Miss B, is also among those who will miss her presence.
A graveside service has been scheduled for Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM. The service will take place at Shepherd Memorial Park, providing family and friends a final opportunity to pay their respects. Prior to the service, friends and family can pay their respects at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Monday, June 2, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
Belvie Heatherly was preceded in death by her parents, Zeb Samuel and Beulah Faye (Ponder) Buie, and her brother, Bruce Buie. She was known for her kind spirit and dedication to her family, values that she instilled in her children and grandchildren. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of many who knew and loved her.
Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the Heatherly family with arrangements during this difficult time. Friends and family are encouraged to support one another as they navigate their grief and remember the life of Belvie Lynn Heatherly.
