The UNC Asheville women’s golf team announced the addition of standout golfer Breanna Hoese to enhance its roster for the upcoming season. Hoese, a transfer from Longwood University, has established herself as a high-level college golfer with multiple under-par rounds and significant tournament placements. Her experience and proven capabilities are expected to strengthen the Bulldogs’ performance, and her integration into the team will be closely watched as they prepare for a competitive future.

Asheville, NC – The UNC Asheville women’s golf team is set to enhance its roster for the 2025-26 season with the addition of standout golfer Breanna Hoese. The announcement was made by head coach Ross Cash on June 9, 2025. Hoese, known for her impressive track record, is anticipated to make a significant impact on the Bulldogs’ performance in the upcoming seasons.

Hoese transfers from Longwood University, a member of the Big South Conference, where she has garnered recognition as a “proven, extremely high-level college golfer.” Over the course of her collegiate career, she has achieved multiple rounds shot under par and secured finishing scores under par in several 54-hole tournaments during the last two years. This record highlights her consistent performance and competitiveness in the sport.

During her tenure at Longwood, Hoese posted six top-50 finishes in her last season, with her best performance being a fourth-place finish out of 55 competitors at the UNCG Collegiate, where she finished 1-under par. Her average score was recorded at 77.7, demonstrating her consistency and skill throughout the season as she competed in 21 rounds.

In her freshman year, she played a pivotal role in leading Longwood to qualify for match play at the Big South Championship for the first time in the team’s history. Hoese recorded two of the team’s nine lowest rounds that season, showcasing her potential to excel in a collegiate golf environment. Notably, she achieved a score of 1-under 70 during the final round of the Elon Women’s Invitational. Her best results included tying for 26th at the Big South Championship, where she posted scores of 77-81-77, totaling 235 (+19).

Hoese is originally from Austin, Texas, where she played varsity golf for four seasons at Vandergrift High School. She led her team to the 6A State Championship, which marked the first title in the program’s history, further establishing her as a formidable competitor in youth golf.

Coach Cash expressed confidence in Hoese’s ability to excel in her final two years as a Bulldog, highlighting her proven capabilities and track record in collegiate golf. The addition of Hoese to the UNC Asheville roster represents not only a strategic move to enhance team performance but also an opportunity for her to develop further as an athlete within a supportive collegiate environment.

As the Bulldogs prepare for the upcoming season, all eyes will be on the integration of Hoese into the team dynamic, with expectations high for her contributions in crucial tournaments. Fans and supporters can follow the progress of the Asheville women’s golf team on social media. The excitement surrounding Hoese’s transfer marks a new chapter for UNC Asheville’s women’s golf program as they work towards building a competitive team for the future.
