ASHEVILLE, N.C. — UNC Asheville volleyball returned to the win column Friday night, beating Presbyterian College in four sets inside the Justice Center by scores of 25-20, 25-14, 20-25 and 25-19.
The Bulldogs improved to 14-6 overall and 2-2 in Big South Conference play. Presbyterian fell to 7-11 and 1-3 in league action. Asheville finished with 55 kills, a .248 hitting percentage, 65 digs, 12 blocks and 10 service aces while holding the Blue Hose to a .112 attack percentage.
Sarah Wadsworth led the offense with a match-high 17 kills and eight digs. Addie Brookbank added 16 kills on a .406 hitting percentage, 14 digs and four block assists. Albertine van der Goot chipped in 10 kills and six block assists, and Lydia Pate had five kills, six total blocks and an ace.
Olivia Philpot posted a career-high 19 digs with five aces and seven assists. Olivia Callipo ran the offense with 29 assists, 11 digs and two aces, while Elise Jensen added 17 assists. After Presbyterian took the third set 25-20, Asheville closed a tight fourth set that featured 11 ties and seven lead changes.
The Bulldogs were scheduled back at the Justice Center at 4 p.m. Saturday against Charleston Southern with Senior Day planned before tip. UNC Asheville remains a core Asheville athletic draw for local fans under Mayor Esther E. Manheimer city profile for campus sports.
