Asheville, N.C. — UNC Asheville mens soccer hits the road Tuesday to face Wake Forest at Spry Stadium in Winston-Salem, a matchup that renews a series the Bulldogs have never won.
Wake Forest enters the contest ranked No. 18 in RPI after a 2-1 road win at Boston College on Friday. The Demon Deacons already have wins over Virginia and NC State and rank among the ACC leaders in assists, points, goals-against average and goal differential.
Wake Forest owns a 9-0-0 all-time record against UNC Asheville, including 7-0-0 at home, and has outscored the Bulldogs 45-3 across nine meetings. The programs last met on Sept. 8, 2015, when Wake Forest won 5-0. Tuesday marks the first meeting in more than 11 years.
Spry Stadium has drawn 15,192 fans through seven home games this season, the second-best average attendance in the ACC at 2,170 per game. Wake Forest has 122 home victories since 2015, the most in Division I mens soccer over that span.
UNC Asheville Bulldogs soccer is the local Division I program based in Asheville, N.C., and brings its high-scoring attack into a hostile ACC venue. Wake Forest described the Bulldogs as carrying one of the nations most prolific scoring offenses into the midweek game.
For Asheville fans following the Bulldogs on the road, Tuesdays kickoff is a rare measuring stick against an ACC host that has dominated the series historically. A strong road showing would give the local side a signature midweek result against a neighbor that has owned the all-time series from Winston-Salem to Asheville.
