LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The NBA has wiped a technical foul off Luka Doncic’s record, leaving the Los Angeles Lakers star with just one so far this season.
Doncic was hit with the technical with 1:12 to go in the second quarter of Monday’s home win over the Miami Heat, after he clapped toward an official while arguing that a foul should have been called. The league reviewed the play Tuesday and rescinded it, which also spares him a $2,000 fine.
Klay Thompson made the free throw that followed, pulling Miami within five at the time. Doncic chose not to discuss the call after the game.
Doncic is averaging 43.4 points over his last five games, a run that included 52 against Utah on Oct. 25. His only remaining technical came against Golden State on Oct. 30.
Technicals have been a recurring issue for Doncic. He drew 15 in each of three straight seasons and sat out one game last season after reaching 16, the level that brings an automatic one-game ban plus a $5,000 fine.
Golden State’s Draymond Green and Houston’s Jabari Smith Jr. already have three technicals each this season.
