CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Two administrators from the University of North Carolina (UNC) System have been dismissed following the release of undercover videos that indicated violations of the system’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies. This action reflects a growing tension between the administration’s policies and the ongoing debates surrounding DEI initiatives in higher education.

The videos were made public by Accuracy in Media (AIM), a group noted for its undercover investigation tactics. In one instance, the former dean of students at UNC Asheville, Megan Pugh, was recorded admitting to flouting DEI-related restrictions set by the Board of Governors. Following the video’s release last Tuesday, she is no longer employed by the university.

Janique Sanders, an administrator from the Office of Leadership and Community Engagement at UNC Charlotte, was also terminated after a video surfaced where she acknowledged her involvement in equity work against the university’s stipulations.
